Olava James

Olava James, 95, of Braintree passed away on February 27, 2026 from congestive heart failure. Mrs. James emigrated from Fåvang in Norway and became an American citizen at age 90.

Her first job in America was as an au pair in Milton in 1958. She also worked as nurses aide at Eli White Nursing Home, Braintree.

A devout physical fitness enthusiast, she enjoyed exercising. Come Christmas time she liked to bake Norwegian cookies and cake. The Food Network was her favorite tv channel.

She is survived by her son, Harry W. James, Jr . of Braintree,and is also the mother of her late son Eric W. James, and the wife of her late husband Harry W. James.

A visitation will be held at Wednesday March 4 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Mortimer-N-Peck Funeral Chapels, 516 Washington St. , Braintree. Funeral service will be Thursday March 5, 10:00 A.M. at Mortimer-N-Peck Funeral Chapels. Burial will follow afterward at Blue Hills Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.
